The coronary artery disease (CAD) is one of the most relevant and deadliest diseases in Germany. The pathogenesis of the CAD is not fully understood so far. The genetics as a unalterable risk factor has been seen under the aspect of a positive family anamnesis, but the underlying reasons have not been understood. GWAS helped to identify genetic risk-variants causing CAD. This work focuses on one of those variants, the GUCY1A3 gene. It has been shown, that the GUCY1A3 risk-variant is significantly associated with the primary endpoint cardiovascular death or stentthrombosis.
