In 2010, a conditional mouse model with the patient-derived translocation t(5; 9)(q33; q22) was published (Pechloff et al., 2010). This translocation was discovered in a subtype of lymphoma, the peripheral T-cell lymphoma-not otherwise specified (PTCL-NOS). To investigate the role of MALT1 in the downstream signaling cascade of ITK-SYK mediated lymphoma initiation, ITK-SYKCD4Cre mice were crossed with MALT1 knockout mice. Data generated from mouse analysis demonstrated, that MALT1 is acting downstream of ITK-SYK as important signaling protein in the initiation cascade of ITK-SYK mediated T-cell lymphoma.
