BACKGROUND: Microcirculatory disturbances are known to play a pivotal role in the pathogenesis of severe necrotizing pancreatitis (SNP). Calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) is a vasodilatatory neuropeptide with potential anti-inflammatory effects.
