Different polymer gels have been developed, which are suited to partially align small organic molecules for the measurement of anisotropic NMR parameters. Furthermore, a stretching device based on flexible elastomer tubes, which can be used for the arbitrary and reversible scaling of the alignment strength of gel-based alignment media, was significantly improved. The constitutional, configurational, and conformational analyses of several synthetic and natural products could be achieved with the developed techniques, while classical structure analysis failed.
