A route to different acyl-substituted chiral octahydroindazoles was developed. Subsequently, the compounds containing this heterocyclic motiv were applied as catalysts in the field of enamin- and iminium-catalysis. Furthermore, one octahydroindazole was successfully used as mediator in the aerobic oxidation of methylphenylsulfide to the corresponding sulfoxide. Secondly, the synthesis of an axially chiral imidazolium salt is described. The latter compound was finally applied as precatalyst in an asymmetric conjugate umpolung for the synthesis of γ-butyrolactons
