The goal of this work is the description of the quality of life of female patients with breast cancer during the perioperative phase, and the comparison of these results with values of patient collectives from other nations and cultures. In total, 606 breast cancer patients were interviewed by use of the EORTC-QLQ-C30 questionnaire and the breast cancer module BR-23 questionnaire. It was shown that, as far as LQ was concerned, female patients in this early disease phase hardly felt impaired. A statistically significant connection was exhibited between age, vocational status and education compared to LQ. Results of the land-based comparison showed that the differences found could be originated from the time of interview rather than from different cultural conditions of the compared groups. Study of health-referred LQ and their determinants should take place in all phases of the disease process in order to identify burdened subgroups.
