Bei Patienten, die mit einem Implantierten Cardioverter Defibrillator (ICD) versorgt werden müssen, sind Angst, Depressivität, Hilflosigkeit als psychische Komorbidität häufig. In einer Zufallsstichprobe von 147 ICD Patienten konnten wir erstmals eine klinisch bedeutsame Untergruppe von 26% der Betroffenen mit den Merkmalen einer Posttraumatischen Belastungsstörung (PTBS) sichern. Das Krankheitsbild war nicht assoziiert mit somatischen Faktoren oder der Abgabe von ICD Schocks. Weitere schwerwiegende psychiatrische Symptome dagegen waren häufig. Ständiges Befassen mit der Erkrankung bzw. kräftezehrendes Gedankenkreisen beeinträchtigt die Lebensqualität der PTBS Patienten bedeutsam.      «
