This thesis describes the wide-reaching and negative consequences of forced displacement on the mental health and development of young children. In a systematic review, adverse childhood experiences, parental stress, and limited access to educational institutions were identified as influencing factors, that should be addressed in political and clinical interventions. In our cross-sectional study, systematic play observations emerged as a valid measure for assessing young, displaced children, highlighting their developmental potential despite adversity.
