Gamification, that is, the practice of using elements of game design in other areas than gaming, has been prominently incorporated in various contexts to enhance consumers’ insights into their own health status and hence, motivate future physical activity and health behaviors. The dissertation contributes to the theories of gamification in mobile technology acceptance and consumer behavior, and gives an outlook on future research such as investigating the isolated role of specific single or groups of gamification features in consumer behavior research.
