BACKGROUND: Optimal port placement and enhanced guidance in robotically assisted cardiac surgery is required to improve preoperative planning and intraoperative navigation. METHODS: Offline optimal port placement is planned on a three-dimensional virtual reconstruction of the patient's computed tomography scan.
