Abstract:

A possible solution for unfeasible surgical reconstruction cases is presented. A modified extracorporeal perfusion unit was connected to porcine muscle transplants and perfused with different perfusion solutions. Tissue samples were taken for laboratory vitality testing. The results show a successful connection of the extracorporeal perfusion unit with the transplants and laboratory vitality testing. Further processing of the data shows no statistical significance for a superiority of one of the perfusion solutions. Further development and research on extracorporeal perfusion with blood substitute solutions for a broad clinical application are essential.
