This study refers to the identification of new potential biomarkers in the battle against a particularly aggressive form of breast cancer, the triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Knowledge of the important role of the uPAR interactome in breast cancer lead to the idea of exploring plasminogen and integrin alpha v beta 3 as members of the uPAR interactome in TNBC. In summary, evidence is presented that especially integrin alpha v beta 3, may play an important role in a subgroup of TNBC patients and might serve as a potential novel predictive cancer biomarker or therapeutic target.
