Abstract:
The ability of high-fidelity computational fluid mechanics simulation to quantitatively predict the influence of ground roughness on the evolution of the wake of a three-bladed horizontal axis wind turbine model is tested by comparison with wind tunnel measurements. The approach consists of the implicit approximate deconvolution large-eddy simulation formulation of Hickel et al., (2006), that is, for the first time, combined with a wall-stress model for flow over rough surfaces and with the actu...     »
