The present work describes the development of a quantitative reverse transcription–PCR (QPCR) assay for specific detection of full–length human kallikrein–related peptidase 7 (
KLK7) mRNA. Subsequently,
KLK7 mRNA expression was analyzed in a subset of 155 breast cancer tissue specimens. The analysis of
KLK7 mRNA expression in breast cancer tissues revealed that higher
KLK7 expression was associated with a significantly better breast cancer disease outcome. Full–length
KLK7 mRNA expression thus may represent a new prognostic marker in breast cancer.
