Today, liver transplantation is a standard therapy for end stage liver disease. Nevertheless, this therapy has big risks for the patient. One of the most serious complications after liver transplantation is the primary non function, which is caused by the ischemia-/reperfusion injury in 10% of the cases.
In the context of this dissertation a new liver transplantation model in the rat was developed, in which a retrograde reperfusion of the graft liver was performed. This method was compared to two liver transplantation methods with antegrade reperfusion laboratory-chemically and in histology.
The results show laboratory-chemically and in histology, that after liver transplantation with retrograde reperfusion the expression of the ischemia-/reperfusion injury is lower.
