Fractures of the carpal bones mostly concern the scaphoid. A new method of operation is the Double-K-Wire Method. It is based on a K-wire with a leading function, which is inserted in a thicker cannulated K-wire. These will be drilled into the scaphoid from dorsal, during fluoroscopic exam. The thicker K-wire serves as a drill and measures the length of the screw. After removal only the thinner K-wire, which was drilled into the trapezium, remains. Across the leading K-wire a Double-Thread-Screw is inserted. The following day, the hand is usable with reservation, which means it is usable, not strainable. The follow-up examination according to the relevant criteria was made by 30 patients. With the Double-K-Wire Method a new method of operation was discovered, which is a wise further development of the scaphoid therapy, because of the easier technique and the better functional and cosmetical results.
