Emotional intelligence (EI) training is increasingly relevant for students as a vulnerable group prone to stress, anxiety, and depression. We synthesized 49 (quasi-)experimental studies on EI trainings for university students from five major databases. The pooled effect was g = 0.23. Additionally, models, content and measures were explored from descriptive and moderating perspectives, presenting a landscape of existing interventions. Future research could move in the direction of setting quality benchmarks for EI training.
