The possible extent of distalization, an orthodontic movement of the teeth dorsally, depends on the prognosis of how much space is available for the accessional dentition. The aim of the study was to assess the type and extent of the changes and potential influencing factors in the retromolar space in the late mixed dentition period. For this purpose, pre- and post-therapeutic lateral cephalometric radiographs of 110 patients were analyzed. The retromolar space changed considerably.
