Zur Wirbelsäulenstabilisierung werden in der modernen onkologischen Therapie zunehmend Pedikelschrauben und Stäbe aus Carbon-Fiber-Reinforced-Polyethyletheretherketon (CFR-PEEK) verwendet. Dadurch werden Artefakte in der Bildgebung reduziert und bei der Bestrahlung weniger Störeffekte verursacht. Es konnte anhand einer großen Patientenkohorte gezeigt werden, dass implantatbedingte Komplikationen selten auftraten und CFR-PEEK als sichere und effiziente Alternative zu Titan für onkologische Wirbelsäuleninstrumente angesehen werden kann.     «

In modern oncological treatment pedicle screws and rods made of the recently introduced carbon-fiber-reinforced-polyethyl-ether-ether-ketone (CFR-PEEK) are increasingly used for spinal stabilization due to their beneficial effects in reducing artifacts on imaging and showing less perturbation effects on photon radiation. It was shown that in a large cohort of consecutive patients implant-related complications overall were rare and that CFR-PEEK can be viewed as a safe and efficient alternative to titanium for oncological spinal instrumentation.     «
