This dissertation is a retrospective evaluation of the utility of electrical impedance spectroscopy for malignancy detection in dermatology practice.
In cases of unclear tumor dignity, an analysis of 909 lesions from 481 patients showed an increase in sensitivity from 60 to 91%. Specificity could not be increased. A lower excision rate of benign lesions can be expected. Limitations were seen in the small patient collective, retrospective design, and lack of histopathologic diagnosis of unexcised lesions.
