This study focusses on the use of polycarboxylate superplasticizers to improve workability of low-carbon cements including calcined clay blended composite cements and alkali-activated slag composite cements. For this purpose, the effect of PCEs possessing different structures on low carbon cements was investigated. It was found that HPEG PCEs produced superior dispersing performance over MPEG PCEs in calcined clay blended cements, while PCEs with high M
w benefits the AAS system. In addition, LDH-PCE improved the slump retention of calcined clay blended cements.
