The research gap between small-scale extrusion additive manufacturing (EAM) and common thick-walled large-scale approaches is addressed through the development of a Freeform Extrusion Additive Manufacturing process. It incorporates complex thin-walled composite structures, as in injection molding, into large additive build volumes. The process is further developed in all mechatronic disciplines, including process and material characterization and optimization, electrical improvements and target-oriented approaches to software technology.
