A postoperative cohort with histologically confirmed endometriosis and a perioperative cohort with chronic pelvic pain completed four questionnaires: EHP-30, HADS-D, DAS-12 and VAS. In patients with endometriosis, the rASRM-stage was documented, intraoperative fluid from the pouch of Douglas was analyzed with a Prostaglandin-E2-ELISA. Mood and endometriosis-associated quality of life were significantly worse in patients with more pain, independent of the stage of endometriosis. The inflammation marker PG-E2 may be important in the pathophysiology of endometriosis.
