Abstract:: Although previous studies indicated a therapeutic benefit from superextended or extended lymph node dissection in bladder cancer patients undergoing radical cystectomy, the first prospective randomized trial could not confirm a significant survival benefit. With multimodal approaches including neoadjuvant or adjuvant chemotherapy as a gold standard, demonstrating any benefit may become even more difficult.
