The presented work addresses the development of novel strategies for the selective formation of fluorine-carbon-bonds with hypervalent λ3-F-iodanes. The synthetic power of these compounds was illustrated by the chemoselective synthesis of fluorinated heterocycles and the introduction of new methods for the electrochemical fluorination. Besides, a special focus lied on the investigation and elucidation of the mechanisms behind these transformations, whereby, the fluorinated compounds were eventually identified as highly reactive intermediates, giving rise to a variety of other interesting structural motives.
