In context of this thesis, studies for the synthesis of supramolecular Mo-, Cr- and Au-complexes as well as Cr-, V- and Au-NHC compounds were conducted. Gold was found to be the most promising choice for both classes of compounds. In case of Au(III) SCCs, the final proof of coordination is still required. Synthesis and characterization of novel macrocyclic Au(III)-NHC-complexes as well as a novel benzimidazolium ligand and the respective Ag(I) and Au(I) complexes was successful. In combination with further Au(I)-NHC complexes, initial biological studies were performed.
