Biaryl-containing peptide natural products are interesting targets for the development of new pharmaceuticals. However, their chemical synthesis is hampered by the installation of the structurally decisive biaryl bonds. In this thesis, the development of a system for the total synthesis of complestatin and cittlin A is presented, which is based on the cytochrome P450 enzymes catalyzing the respective biaryl-couplings in nature. In addition, investigations on the biosynthesis of the biaryl-containing biphenomycins and LL-AF283beta, as well as JBIR-34 and -35 are reported.
