This work evaluates aspects of adherence in 215 German persons living with HIV (PLWH). It reports frequency of nonadherence and characteristics of nonadherent patients. Furthermore, it describes satisfaction with antiretroviral therapy and personal reasons for nonadherence. Knowing factors associated with reduced adherence helps in identifying patients with a higher risk for nonadherence. Knowing reasons for nonadherence facilitates offering specialized adherence interventions. Thereby, medical care and life quality of PLWH may be improved.
