In this thesis, experimental studies of complex magnetic textures by means of transverse susceptibility measurements are presented. In LiHoF
4, a distinct dependence of the nature of the quantum phase transition on geometric misalignment of the sample is reported. Additionally, signatures of field-induced domain-wall tunnelling as well as a strong hyperfine coupling are observed. In MnSi, the interplay of conduction electrons with the skyrmion lattice is studied. It is found that the critical current density may be reduced by over one order of magnitude with a small oscillating magnetic field.
