Since the commercialization of lithium ion batteries, intense research has been performed on the cathode component. This work focuses on the synthesis and characterization of LiCoPO4 (LCP) by polyol synthesis. This approach is useful to control the morphology and grain size, resulting in phase pure LCP-Pnma. The use of surfactants to control the nucleation and growth of particles has been implemented by the variation of the temperature and molar ratio. Moreover, the synthesis of other modifications of LCP (Pn21a and Cmcm) and LFP-Cmcm is reported for the first time.
