Mature donor-derived T cells in allogeneic bone marrow (BM) transplants mediate the graft-versus-tumor (GVT) effect by recognizing alloantigens on leukemic cells. However, alloantigen reactivity towards non-malignant tissues also induces graft-versus-host disease (GVHD).
