Abstract:
Peristaltic forces cause a topographic, time-dependent distribution of bolus mass during its esophageal transport. A two-dimensional spatial-temporal pattern (profile) of local transit times is constructed by computer-based double compression of scintigraphic images sampled from whole swallows.
