24 of 67 invited participants of the LIPCOS population, 17 mothers and 7 childless women with PCOS by Rotterdam definition, were prospectively studied over 4 years. Testosterone, DHEAS, SHBG and LH/FSH-ratio were not significantly different in mothers and childless women. Childless women reported less hirsutism than mothers (p=0.009) and less weight gain, whereas mothers reported shorter menstrual cycles over a course of ten years (41,0±18 vs. 38.4±17,3 days) and significantly more regular daily routine than childless women (p=0,017).
