Pertrochanteric fractures are one of the most common injuries in the elderly and due to the demographic changes the incidence and importance of this fracture entity will even increase in the future. The dynamic hip screw (DHS) has been used as the gold standard implant in the treatment of pertrochanteric femoral fractures for many years but recent studies have shown that cephalomedullary nails have some advantages.
