- On the accuracy of orbital elements used to calculate ephemerides for photographic observations of geostationary artificial Earth satellites
- Abstract:
- On the basis of the results of photographic observations of the geostationary artificial Earth satellite METEOSAT-P2, the accuracy of ephemerides calculated using ESOC and NORAD orbital elements has been estimated. The absolute error of satellite coordinates is about 1' when ESOC elements are used and 5' - with NORAD elements. A conclusion has been made on the usefulness of the elements to ephemeris calculations for geostationary satellite photographic observations.
