In this thesis the transgenic mouse model Tg(Vil-Reg3β) was used to investigate the
in vivo effects of the C-type lectin Reg3β in terms of intestinal cell homeosthasis, as well as the pathogenesis of acute colitis and colitis-associated colon cancer. The transgenic overexpression of Reg3β did not show any impact on proliferation and apoptosis of intestinal stem cells. During acute colitis no difference was observed in transgenic mice regarding inflammation or epithelial damage. In the CAC-model Reg3β did not appear to have a pro- or antitumorigenic effect.
