In Germany, management standards for improving sustainability in agricultural production have been hardly offered and used so far. The dissertation comprises four studies that investigate the prerequisites, motivations, and preferences of German farmers to standards. The results show that ease of application and a reduced risk of use contribute significantly to a higher acceptance of such innovations. Easy data transfer and better knowledge about the standards promise the greatest acceptance promotion among farmers, besides higher prices for sustainable products.
