In order to assure and improve crosswind stability of passenger cars at high speed, the influence of unsteady aerodynamic excitations on the vehicle behaviour was investigated. Through validated driving dynamics simulations, the impact of aerodynamic excitations and chassis parameters on the vehicle response was quantified. A series of experiments in a dynamic driving simulator was performed, in order to investigate the subjective perception of multidimensional vehicle motions marginally above perception thresholds.
