Abstract:
In the last few years the Lattice Boltzmann method which has been derived from kinetic theory, has matured as an efficient approach to solve the Navier-Stokes equations in the limit of small Mach numbers. In our approach we couple a LB-solver for fluid flow based on unstructured quadtree/octree Eulerian grids with a p-FEM-solver for structure mechanics based on a Lagrangian description to predict bidirectional fluid-structure interaction.
