In the international research project DE-MONTES , which is funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme (FP7), a fully-automated high-resolution measurement and analysis system for geo-monitoring is being developed. The system is implemented and tested by the use of concrete applications posed by four partic-ipating small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Thus, a subsequent integration into existing industrial systems is ensured. The development is realised primarily by three re-search institutions operating in the fields of geodesy, photogrammetry, computer vision and software development. The paper describes the main strategies followed during the project, technical implications over various fields of expertise, an overview on the scientific and technical approach, as well as the results achieved so far.
