Quality of service provisioning is a key challenge in wireless network development. Real-time applications, such as VoIP or video streaming, often require low delay or high data rates. Special mechanisms are necessary to ensure efficient use of resources.
During the course of this work, a QoS and management architecture for wireless mesh networks was developed, which monitors the network state and provides quality of service. Flexible adjustability of QoS mechanisms allows optimal adaptation to current circumstances. The architecture is thus suitable for various scenarios.
Appropriate parameter settings were evaluated both analytically and by simulation. Primary constraints for the design of the architecture were compatibility with existing concepts and standards, as well as ease of deployment and operation.
