Investigation of associations between polymorphisms (β1-[Ser49Gly, Arg389Gly], β2-adrenoceptors- [Arg16Gly, Glu27Gln, Arg19Cys], angiotensin-converting-enzyme genes [insertion/deletion-polymorphism]) and cardiovascular changes during marathon running. We investigated 140 men between 30 and 60 years before, immediately after and one day after marathon running primarily with echocardiography (measurement of diastolic function: E/A-ratio, E/E’-ratio; left atrial parameters: total and true ejection fraction). Gly49-, Non-Gln27-, Non-Cys19- and Non-D-Carriers seemed to be significantly benefited with respect to these parameters. In addition to echocardiographic parameters Arg16-allele seems to protect from shear stress. In conclusion the investigated SNPs influence cardiac function in rest, while and after prolonged strenuous exercise.
