Translated abstract:
In the therapy of breast cancer both primary systemic therapy (PST) and sentinel lymph node biopsy (SLNB) become more frequently applied. The combination of these two methods, however, has not been adequately analyzed. Therefore, this study evaluates 88 patients from 3 centres with SLNB after PST. In 84 of 88 cases (95,5%) at least one sentinel node could be detected. Moreover, in five of 30 cases (16,7%) a false negative sentinel node was found, which does not comply with the requirements (<10%) but showed a big variation between the centres. For establishing SLNB after PST as a matter of routine (more) prospective trials are required.
