Kurzfassung:
This work presents a multi-platform strategy for the GPU acceleration of the GENE-X plasma turbulence code with Fortran/C++ interoperation and directive-based approach via OpenACC and OpenMP offload. Significant speedup was achieved and further analysis on the performance and scalability is presented. In a proactive initiative for sustainable computing, this work extends its analysis to measure the energy consumption of production GENE-X simulations and deduces their associated carbon footprint.
