Casing treatments have widely proven their ability to extend the operating range of tip critical axial compressor rotors. However, to draw reliable conclusions on the benefits of casing treatments within a real engine environment, a detailed understanding of the influence of a casing treatment on the performance of the overall compressor is necessary to ensure that this stabilization feature is effectively applied. Thus, detailed investigations on a numerical model of a multi-stage transonic axial compressor are conducted to analyse the flow field and stage-matching of an overall compressor in the presence of casing treatments.
