This dissertation analyzes and evaluates the financial development of the German statutory pension insurance using the pension simulation model MEA-Pensim. Hereto, the design of the insurance is evaluated on the basis of different assumptions and assessed by a counterfactual comparison with Sweden. Afterwards two pension reforms are evaluated (mandatory insurance for self-employed and the “Rente mit 63”). Moreover, the retirement behavior as an important factor is analyzed by a statistical model. Finally, the focus is stretched as the financial development of the health and care insurance are considered, additionally.
