In the course of shear cutting sheet metal, a temperature rise occurs due to the dissipation of a large part of plastic work in the shearing zone. This increase in temperature affects the shear cutting process in various ways. In this thesis, a tool-workpiece-thermocouple is introduced for measuring the resulting dynamic temperature development during the shear cutting process at the cutting edge of the punch using various process parameters. Causal associations could be clearly derived and analyzed by evaluating the temperature profiles in combination with further process data. These scientific findings allow an improved comprehension of the process and contribute to the overall optimization of shear cutting.
