In times when external conditions are changing rapidly, a company's competitiveness is highly dependent on its capacity for innovation. The market for continuous conveyors for bulk agricultural materials has been undergoing a marked transformation. The main factors driving this transformation include new machinery for processing energy resources, new rules and regulations as well as rising energy costs. The aim of this thesis is accordingly to propose a methodical procedure for the development of continuous conveyors and to exemplify its usage in a development project. For this purpose, we have drawn up a procedure model that guides the engineer step by step through the development process as well as creating a database for supporting the engineer with pertinent knowledge management and tools to assess and select solutions. The use of the said methodology enables the manufacturers to significantly improve their own development process. This allows them to respond faster to changing market conditions and to ensure the company's long-term success.
