The construction industry faces a tremendous competition and thus cost pressure. Today’s requirements focus on high-quality, sustainable and life cycle-oriented structures. In addition, particularly infrastructure projects have to be completed within short terms. These challenges of the German construction industry can be overcome solely by more efficient processes throughout the entire project organization.
Even if unnecessary costs in the construction process in many cases result from inadequate information management, the potentials of a central, all-digital and model-based data management are currently utilized too little. Accordingly, the goal of the thesis is to develop a comprehensive data management framework for road and bridge construction projects to make use of these potentials for the construction industry as well. As part of a case study, the concept is also implemented on a real construction project and evaluated.
