Today’s ever more demanding markets present companies with the challenge of continually improving their products and processes. As a consequence, the celerity and quality of the implementation of production processes has to be increased substantially. Production processes are significantly determined by the development of production technologies and a factory concept. In this context factory design and technology planning are highly interdependent and interact in a complex way. Within this thesis, a method for improving the interaction of these two domains will be devised. The method will allow for planning, controlling and managing the cooperation of factory design and technology planning. Thus, the defined goals, such as reducing the number of planning iterations and increasing the planning quality, can be realised. A software tool promoting the practical implementation of the method was also developed as part of the work.
